Clay Bobble Heads

 Clay Bobble Heads Grade: 5th Graders Summary:  This lesson focused on the medium of clay and making, as well as painting, animal bobble heads. The lesson started off with an online presentation over techniques used, what clay even is, and how we will use it. After the end of this lesson, the teacher came over and demonstrated what to do on the table right in front of the students. The first step was to make the clay given in to two separate balls. Then, pinch pots were made. The teacher demonstrated this. Next, comes making the body. Students used the rest of said clay and made a cone like structure for the bottom. Now, it was time to add embellishments such as arms, legs, eyes, nose, and ears. Students then had to hollow out the bottom of their animal so it would dry better. While creating their animal, the teacher passed out materials, and told them different techniques/facts of clay making. Once they completed their animal, the rest was left to painting! Animal Plate Printmaking

Animal Plate Printmaking Grade: 4th Graders Summary of Lesson: This lesson focused on the medium of printmaking specifically with plates. The teacher introduced herself to the class and asked if the students knew what pop art was. Then a quick, 5 minute video was put on for the students to watch which explained pop art, what it was, different artists and different works that represent said movement. Now that the students knew what was expected, the project began. First, students practiced on a piece of white paper an animal of their choosing while the teacher modeled how to draw a cat. From there, the student would outline and trace their animal with a sharpie, on a styrofoam plate. The painting then began. Students went over to a table that was covered in paper, that had was paper sheets taped on. On each sheet of wax paper, there are four different colors: red, black, blue, and yellow. Paper Folding Flowers

 Paper Folding Flowers Grade Level: 2nd Grade Paper Crafts Summary of Lesson: This lesson revolved around origami and how to make a paper tulip. To start off the lesson, the teacher presented on the screen different types/levels of origami,  examples, the origin of origami, and two artists who practice origami. After the presentation of the lesson, the teacher set up the dot cam and then started by going step-by-step on how to make a tulip. A tool that was very useful and brought up in the lesson, was a wooden dowel to fold down the edges and creases. The teacher started with the flower petals and the creation of those, then they moved to how to make the leaves as well as how to attach it all together with tape. This was very independent work time. There needed to be at least 3 flowers made with the petals going opposite ways of each other. Underwater Sea Creatures

Underwater Sea Creatures Grade Level: 3rd Grade Media: Painting  Summary of Lesson: This lesson focuses on the exploration of underwater sea creatures through different mediums such as watercolor and crayon. This lesson started off with a visual presentation over different ways of using watercolor and the techniques that work with it. Students worked step-by-step with the teacher on a scratch piece of paper over the different uses; there were six in total. After the completion of this step, students were able to start on their actual project. On the projector screen there were various examples of sea creatures that students could create on their work, as well as freedom to look up images on a device of their own. This was very independent work as students had freedom to which animals and underwater landscape they could create, the only requirement was at least 3 sea like elements.  If Picasso Built a Snowman * * * Grade Level: 3rd Grade  Summary: In this lesson, students will be able to understand the technique of cubism with the help of the artist Pablo Picasso. They will then create their own snowman, using various mediums, that are inspired by the cubist movement and Picasso. The lesson started off with a Keynote presentation of information over Pablo Picasso and his work of cubism. The presentation included, definitions, years, who Picasso was, his family, his work, and what the students are going to learn/execute. After the completion of the presentation, students will go step-by-step with the teacher on how to draw the snowman with a pencil. After sketching out the snowman, details and all, students will then outline in a black marker. Following that, it becomes very independent work.
