In Class Activity - Dot

 Extension Activity:

An extension activity would included reading the Dot book, and then having the whole class participate in a project together. This can help them learn how put the knowledge they just heard to use, and they will be cooperative with their peers. An example of an activity that can be fun would be painting. A teacher could line a long table with paper. The students will have paintbrushes and circular foam brushes with plenty of colors of paint. From there, students would be given instructions to have creative freedom but to make dots. Once the project is dry, said teacher could write the names of the students who created the work and their grade level, and hang it in the hallway by their classroom. When students see their work hanging proudly for everyone else to see, it will inspire them to keep creating. We need more artists in the world and by encouraging students we will accomplish that goal.

This is a coffee filter activity. Students were read the book Dot. They were given multiple materials such as watercolors, crayons, markers, and coffee filters. Students were able to write their own messages or their own drawings.

This is an activity with watercolor paper and watercolors. It goes off the idea of the book of Dot and it represents the same ideas as the activity above.
